Actor questioned by Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad as part of ongoing probe. Investigation centers on alleged promotion of unauthorized online gambling platforms

July 30, 2025: Today, Wednesday, July 30, well-known actor Prakash Raj went to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad. The actor who has been in the business for a long time was brought to court because there is an inquiry going on concerning the possible sale of illegal online betting apps. There is a video on social media that shows Raj outside the ED office in Basheerbagh.

Prakash Raj and other well-known personalities, like actors Rana Daggubati, Vijay Deverakonda, and Lakshmi Manchu, have been brought in by the federal investigating agency. The ED is looking into this because police in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have filed multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) against people who are considered to be promoting these platforms, which are accused of breaking gambling rules and making illegal money.

The investigation is being done under the Public Gambling Act of 1867 and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Its goal is to find out how much money celebrities are making by promoting these illicit betting apps. Earlier reports suggest that Prakash Raj had a deal to promote a certain betting app in 2016, but he didn’t renew it in 2017 since he thought it was wrong.
