December 12, 2024: Adam Sandler has officially confirmed one of the most exciting surprises for fans of the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore—Eminem will make a cameo appearance in the highly anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2. The revelation came during Sandler’s appearance on The Dan Patrick Show, where he teased several other celebrity cameos and offered a glimpse into the production of the film.
When Patrick inquired about potential cameos, Sandler didn’t hesitate to spill the beans about Eminem’s involvement. “Eminem was cool, he came by, he was great,” Sandler said, adding that the rapper’s presence on set brought a lot of energy and humor. Although Sandler didn’t reveal specifics about Eminem’s role, he shared his excitement about working with the rapper, saying, “We just hung out a day with Eminem and he just shot and shot, and he was insane. He said a million things we can use and a million that we’re glad we have him on tape.” Sandler also hinted at how much fun it was to have Eminem involved, but he kept the exact details of the cameo under wraps for now.
In addition to Eminem, Happy Gilmore 2 will feature several familiar and new faces, including Christopher McDonald, who will reprise his role as the iconic villain Shooter McGavin. Sandler also teased appearances from NFL star Travis Kelce, TV personality Dan Patrick, and actress Margaret Qualley. Adding even more star power to the film, golf legend Jack Nicklaus, 84, is expected to make a special appearance.
The sequel, which was confirmed by Netflix in May, has been in the works for some time, with filming now complete. Sandler expressed some nerves about following up on a classic nearly 30 years after the original, but he also conveyed confidence in the project. “We’ve got a lot of good stuff, and we just want to make sure that it all comes together,” Sandler said. He added, “We’re definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.”
Fans can expect the film to hit Netflix in July 2025, and with the star-studded lineup and Sandler’s signature comedy, Happy Gilmore 2 is already generating a huge amount of buzz.
