Adarsh Gourav Urges Support for Smaller Films

Actor says audiences must back mid-budget cinema to encourage experimentation

February 26, 2026: Actor Adarsh Gourav has called on audiences to support smaller commercial films, saying they deserve “a chance to show what we’ve done with it.” Speaking to Zoom about his recent release Tu Yaa Main, Adarsh said the film has been “very intelligently adapted and written and developed” by director Bejoy Nambiar and writer Abhishek Bandekar. He stressed that it is important for viewers to show up for such projects in theatres.

Reflecting on post-pandemic viewing trends, Adarsh noted that audiences increasingly gravitate towards big-ticket spectacles like Animal, Border 2 and Dhurandhar. He said while he understands the appeal of large-scale entertainers, smaller films also need adequate footfall to survive. “I’m not saying these films should make insane money, but if they continue making big losses, it discourages producers from experimenting with stories,” he explained.

Adarsh warned that without audience support, the industry could become dominated solely by high-budget productions featuring major stars such as Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. He emphasised that balanced viewership is essential to ensure diverse storytelling and creative risks continue to find space in mainstream cinema.
