
Aditi Rao Hydari Recalls Bhansali's Personal Touch in Costume Design for 'Heeramandi'
Actor Aditi Rao Hydari, known for her role as Bibbojaan in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” shared insights into Bhansali’s meticulous involvement in the costume design process. Hydari revealed that Bhansali personally selected a unique fabric for her first mujra scene in the series, traveling to New Delhi to procure it from designers Rimple and Harpreet’s facility.
Expressing gratitude for Bhansali’s attention to detail, Hydari emphasized the significance of his gesture, describing it as a blessing. She praised Bhansali’s care and love, highlighting how his dedication to every aspect of the production, including writing and costume design, enriched the experience for the actors.
Hydari also commended Bhansali’s ability to create immersive worlds and bring out the best performances from his actors. She noted the special nature of “Heeramandi,” emphasizing the dignity Bhansali lends to female characters and their stories. Hydari expressed her admiration for Bhansali’s belief in portraying every woman’s story with pride, courage, and dignity, regardless of her background.
