Adria Arjona Joins Michael B. Jordan in “The Thomas Crown Affair” Remake

“Andor” Star to Co-Lead Amazon MGM Studios’ Reimagining, Directed by and Starring Michael B. Jordan

Adria Arjona, known for her roles in “Andor” and “Hit Man,” is officially set to star alongside Michael B. Jordan in Amazon MGM Studios’ highly anticipated reimagining of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” This new iteration sees Jordan not only in the starring role but also making his second directorial outing following his successful debut with “Creed III” in 2023.

Production for the film is currently underway in London. This project draws inspiration from Norman Jewison’s acclaimed 1968 original, which famously starred Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The ensemble cast for the new “The Thomas Crown Affair” is rounded out by an impressive lineup of talent, including Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart. The film is slated for a theatrical release on March 5, 2027.

Arjona’s casting comes after Taylor Russell, previously attached to the lead female role, exited the project last week due to creative differences, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay for this modern take on the classic was penned by Drew Pearce (“The Fall Guy”), building upon an earlier draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson. Producing the film are Michael B. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo for Outlier Society, alongside Charles Roven for Atlas Entertainment. Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Productions are also on board as producers. Alan Trustman, the original film’s writer, serves as an executive producer, connecting this new version to its cinematic roots.

The original “The Thomas Crown Affair” garnered two Oscar nominations and centered on an insurance investigator’s efforts to track down a daring bank heist perpetrator. The story was notably remade in 1999, with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo in the lead roles.

Adria Arjona’s recent work includes the Disney+ “Star Wars” series “Andor” and feature films such as “Blink Twice” and “Hit Man.” Her next appearance will be opposite Dakota Johnson in “Splitsville,” a comedy from Neon and Topic Studio.

During a video segment at CinemaCon in April, Jordan offered a tease of his vision for “The Thomas Crown Affair,” assuring the audience that his film “isn’t just another remake,” hinting at a fresh perspective on the beloved heist story.

Arjona is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Stone Genow.
