July 30, 2025: Melissa Gilbert, who used to be on “Little House on the Prairie,” has changed a lot since she left Hollywood and married Tim Busfield in 2013. She has stopped worrying about getting cosmetic surgery and has been more true to herself.
The 61-year-old actress recently talked about how moving to Michigan with Busfield was the best thing that ever happened to her on the “I Choose Me” podcast with Jennie Garth. “Please take me out of L.A.” Gilbert remarked, “I have to go somewhere I can get older,” showing how happy she was to leave Los Angeles, where everyone was so focused on looks.

Gilbert said that her stay in the Midwest was “amazing” and “peaceful,” and that it was a very important time for her to “land into my own skin.” She said she was “at peak filler, Botox, big boobs” before she got married and moved. But a shocking photo taken by a paparazzi made them reconsider their mind. She remembered thinking, “That’s not who I am or who I wanted to be.” This made her decide to stop doing cosmetic work and find herself again, which her husband, Tim, wholeheartedly supported.
One of the most important things she did on her path was decide to get her breast implants taken out for good. Gilbert talked about how she didn’t want to have to have replacements in the future and wanted to take back her body. “I want to feel strong and healthy as I get older now,” she said. This important choice led to more adjustments, such as not dyeing her hair anymore and dressing for her own comfort instead of to impress others.
Gilbert’s honesty comes at a time when more and more famous people are talking about their cosmetic surgery. Sami Sheen, the daughter of Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen, reportedly said she wanted to get rid of her breast implants because she was worried about breast implant sickness. Kylie Jenner, on the other hand, has been very open about her breast augmentation, even giving the name of the surgeon who did it.
