AICWA to PM Modi: Time to Cut Digital Ties with Pakistan?
July 2, 2025: The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a strong appeal to PM Modi, calling for a complete and permanent ban on the digital presence of Pakistani artists and media in India.
In an official statement released on X (formerly Twitter), AICWA expressed concern over the growing visibility of Pakistani actors and entertainment platforms on Indian digital media, calling it a “direct insult” to the memory of Indian soldiers martyred in terror attacks. The association named celebrities like Mawra Hocane and Yumna Zaidi as examples, stating their online presence constitutes an “emotional assault” on the families of terrorism victims.

Referring to attacks such as 26/11, Pulwama, Uri, and the recent Pahalgam tragedy, AICWA reiterated its stance on Pakistan’s involvement in cross-border terrorism. It also condemned alleged statements by Pakistani artists following India’s Operation Sindoor, claiming they showed no remorse and instead spoke against India.
AICWA pointed out that Pakistan has maintained a ban on Indian films and content since the Pulwama attack and questioned why India should not reciprocate. “India has cultural ties with nearly 200 countries. Cutting off Pakistan will not impact our economy or entertainment industry,” the statement read.
The association demanded a full digital blackout of Pakistani artists and media channels in India, a ban on future collaborations in films, OTT platforms, and advertising, and a lasting cultural disconnect — all as a tribute to Indian armed forces and martyrs.
