Aishwarya Rai And Abhishek Bachchan File Lawsuit Against YouTube, Seek ₹4 Cr Damages For THIS Reason
The couple demands ₹4 crore ($450,000) in damages, seeking a permanent injunction against the proliferation of “sexually explicit” deepfakes. The suit challenges YouTube and Google’s policies, arguing AI models trained on such content risk multiplying the spread of untrue information.
October 2, 2025: In a significant legal move, celebrity power couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have reportedly filed lawsuits against Google and YouTube over the proliferation of AI-generated deepfake videos featuring their likeness.
According to a Reuters report, the actors are demanding $450,000 (nearly ₹4 crore) in damages and a permanent injunction to halt the exploitation of their images through this content. The lawsuit cites hundreds of links and screenshots of YouTube videos that the couple alleges are “egregious,” “sexually explicit,” or “fictitious” AI-generated content.
The core of the Bachchans’ legal argument centers on the platforms’ content policies, specifically regarding third-party AI training. In near-identical filings dated September 6 (which are not publicly available), Abhishek and Aishwarya argue that YouTube’s policies are concerning because they allow users to consent to share videos they created for the purpose of training rival AI models.
The filings state that allowing such content to be used for AI training has the potential to “multiply the instances of use of any infringing content,” risking the further spread of misleading and harmful material online.
The actors further argue that if AI platforms are trained on biased content that portrays them negatively or infringes upon their intellectual property rights, the resulting AI models are “likely to learn all such untrue” information, leading to its continuous and wider dissemination.
The case, which shines a spotlight on the growing legal battle between celebrities and AI-generated content, is currently being heard by the Delhi High Court. The court last month asked Google’s lawyer to submit written responses before the next hearing scheduled for January 15.
In the meantime: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II (2023). Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in Kaalidhar Laapata and is set to appear next in Siddharth Anand’s King, starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Suhana Khan
