Aishwarya Rai Stuns In Black Gaurav Gupta Gown For Second Look At Cannes 2025

May 22, 2025: Global icon Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turned heads once again at the Cannes Film Festival 2025, debuting her second look in a bold, shimmering black gown by designer Gaurav Gupta. Attending the prestigious festival as the global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, Aishwarya’s appearance reaffirmed her status as a red carpet mainstay and fashion trailblazer.

Photos shared widely across fan pages on X (formerly Twitter) show the actor stepping out in the striking ensemble, accompanied by her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, who twinned in black. The gown featured a glittering silhouette and a dramatic white train, styled to drape across her arms, adding an avant-garde touch to the look. Aaradhya was seen helping her mother navigate through the crowd of paparazzi outside their hotel, creating a heartwarming mother-daughter moment.

This marks Aishwarya’s second red carpet look at this year’s festival. Her first appearance—an ivory saree by Manish Malhotra—was a tribute to Indian tradition, accessorized with a long pallu, a lace train, and sindoor on her forehead, a detail that caught widespread attention. Her elegant namaste to photographers won her fans online who praised the look as “a true global representation of Indian culture.”

Aishwarya has long been a Cannes veteran, first gracing the red carpet in 2002 when her film Devdas premiered at the festival. Dressed in a yellow saree, she posed alongside Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, setting the tone for two decades of representing Indian cinema and fashion on the global stage.

This year has been significant for Indian representation at Cannes:

  • Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Homebound’ was screened in the Un Certain Regard section and received a 9-minute standing ovation.
  • The film stars Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa.
  • Satyajit Ray’s classic ‘Aranyer Din Ratri’ was featured in the Cannes Classics section, with Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal in attendance.
  • Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia is serving on the main competition jury, led by Juliette Binoche, a year after her historic Grand Prix win.

From stunning couture to culturally rich tributes, Aishwarya Rai continues to merge fashion with heritage, reaffirming her place as a true global star at Cannes.
