Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly Screening Halted in Chennai After Disco Light Mishap In Theatre

A screening at Chennai’s Vettri Theatres was paused for 30 minutes after a falling disco light nearly injured a child, leading to police intervention and a heated exchange with theatre staff.

April 13, 2025: The screening of Ajith Kumar and Trisha Krishnan’s action-drama Good Bad Ugly was unexpectedly halted at Chennai’s Vettri Theatres on Sunday after a disco ball fell from the ceiling, narrowly missing a child in the audience. The incident led to a brief commotion and a police visit to the cinema premises.

According to a Thanthi TV report, the theatre had installed decorative disco lights and other fixtures to enhance the celebratory atmosphere around the film’s release. However, one of the hanging lights came loose mid-show, startling viewers as it dropped near a child. The screening was immediately stopped.

The child reportedly began crying loudly, prompting concerned family members to confront the theatre management. Tensions escalated as relatives demanded accountability, questioning what might have happened if the light had hit the child directly.

Police arrived shortly after and mediated the situation. After a 30-minute pause and a verbal agreement between both parties, the screening resumed.

About the Film

Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, is being promoted as a “sambavam” showcasing “vintage Ajith.” The film features Ajith as a reformed gangster named AK, also known as Red Dragon, who tries to live a peaceful life but is forced back into his dark past after his son is kidnapped.

The cast includes Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Das, Sunil, Priya Prakash Varrier, and others, with music by GV Prakash. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the film has performed strongly at the box office, reportedly collecting ₹114.70 crore globally in its first three days.
