January 6, 2025: The year 2025 is shaping up to be a remarkable one for Indian cinema, with several new talents entering the industry, one of whom is Simar Bhatia, the niece of Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar. On Monday, Akshay shared an emotional post on Instagram celebrating Simar’s Bollywood debut with the film Ikkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan.
Akshay’s heartfelt note for Simar expressed a deep sense of pride and love for his niece. He reflected on his own journey and the joy he felt when he first saw his photo on a newspaper cover, only to realize that seeing Simar’s debut was an even greater moment of happiness. He wrote:
“I remember the first time I saw my photo on the cover of the newspaper. I thought that’s the ultimate happiness. But today I know the happiness of seeing your child’s photo here beats everything. I wish my mom was here today and she would have said ‘Simar puttar Tu tah Kamaal hai’. Bless you my baby, the sky is yours.”
Accompanying the note, Akshay shared a newspaper clipping featuring an article about Simar’s debut. The post was met with excitement from fans and celebrities alike. Actors Huma Qureshi and Rakul Preet Singh also commented, offering their support and love for Simar. Rakul Preet dropped red heart emojis, while Huma playfully said, “sim sim.”
Simar’s debut film Ikkis is a highly anticipated war drama, based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The film is set to explore Khetarpal’s life and heroic actions, making it an emotional and powerful story. Joining Simar in the film is Agastya Nanda, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson, marking his debut as well. The movie also stars Dharmendra, adding further star power to the project.
Though further details about the film’s plot are under wraps, the combination of a gripping war narrative and an ensemble cast has already generated much buzz.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his own release, with his much-awaited film Sky Force slated for a Republic Day 2025 release on January 24. In this action-packed thriller, Akshay plays an Indian Air Force officer on a mission of vengeance after the loss of several soldiers. Directed by Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Kapur, the film promises high-octane aerial combat and intense action sequences. Akshay is joined by debutant Veer Pahariya, who plays another IAF officer, and Sara Ali Khan, who portrays Veer’s wife.
As both Akshay and Simar step into new chapters in their careers, the year 2025 promises to be an exciting one for the family, with the industry eagerly awaiting their respective releases.
