Bollywood’s original “Khiladi,” Akshay Kumar, reportedly sustained an injury on the sets of his upcoming horror-comedy, Bhooth Bangla.
On Thursday, April 9, a behind-the-scenes (BTS) video released by the makers went viral, capturing the exact moment the 58-year-old actor lost his balance during a high-intensity action sequence. Known for his refusal to use body doubles, Akshay was attempting a signature mid-air jump kick when he mistimed his landing and suffered a fall.
The incident underscores Akshay’s long-standing philosophy of “real over reel.” In a recent interview, the actor reiterated his distaste for excessive CGI, stating that the over-reliance on VFX or AI can strip an action scene of its authenticity. According to the actor, performing real stunts allows the audience to connect with the genuine effort and thrill behind the performance—a commitment that, in this instance, led to a physical setback on set.
Adding to the buzz, the film’s release has been strategically rescheduled. Originally slated for April 10, co-producer Ektaa R Kapoor announced that Bhooth Bangla will now premiere on April 16, with special previews starting at 9 PM. The decision was made to avoid a direct clash with the ongoing juggernaut Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which continues to dominate the box office. Ektaa noted that the shift ensures both films receive the “space, focus, and attention they deserve.”
Directed by the legendary Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla marks a highly anticipated reunion between the director and Akshay Kumar. The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Tabu, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Cape of Good Films, the horror-comedy is one of the most awaited releases of the summer 2026 season.
