Akshay Kumar On ‘Kesari Chapter 2’: ‘I Wanted To Bring The Actual History, Not The Perspective Of ‘Angrez’

April 4, 2025: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, during the trailer launch event of Kesari Chapter 2, shared his inspiration behind working on the film, emphasizing his desire to bring the real history of India to the forefront. The trailer event, which was held on Thursday, saw Akshay joined by co-stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday.

In his speech at the event, Akshay expressed his deep wish to create a series of Kesari films. He explained that his primary goal is to educate audiences about the untold stories of India’s brave and loyal past. The actor praised the people of Punjab for their courage and valor, highlighting their contribution to India’s history.

“Punjab comprises of brave, loyal people, and valor and I want to bring their stories to you,” Akshay said in Punjabi. He continued, revealing his desire to make Kesari 3 and Kesari 4, stating that there are numerous chapters in Indian history, particularly from Punjab, that have not been explored enough in cinema.

One of the key points Akshay made during the event was his critique of the way history has been recorded. He claimed that most history books are written from the perspective of the British, which, according to him, has led to a distortion of India’s true past. Akshay said, “I want to bring out the valor and things which India has done and have done it earlier which we don’t know because in our history books, it is not written.”

His comments reflect his ongoing effort to challenge colonial narratives and present an alternate view of history through films like Kesari.

The actor also addressed a controversial moment from the Kesari Chapter 2 teaser, where he used the word “f**k you” on-screen for the first time. When asked about it, Akshay explained that the word was a response to the British labeling Indians as “slaves,” which he considered to be a much worse insult. He stated, “I think there can be no bigger abuse than this,” referring to the word used in the teaser.

Akshay further added, “According to me, if at that time we would have shot them, then that would have also been a small response.” His remarks reflect his sentiment about the historical injustices faced by Indians during British colonial rule.

The sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, Kesari Chapter 2 is set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film explores the aftermath of the tragedy, with Akshay Kumar playing the role of Nair and R Madhavan portraying Neville McKinley, a lawyer defending the British Crown. The trailer reveals a gripping courtroom showdown, with haunting visuals of the massacre, emphasizing the deep emotional and historical impact it had on India.

Kesari Chapter 2 is scheduled for release on April 18, 2025, and promises to continue the story of India’s resilience, bravery, and patriotism.
