Akshay Kumar Proudly Calls Twinkle Khanna His 'Trophy Wife'; Here's Why

December 10, 2024: Akshay Kumar Celebrates Twinkle Khanna’s Literary Triumph with a Touch of Humour

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar proudly cheered for his wife, actress-turned-author Twinkle Khanna, after she won the Crossword Book Award 2024 in the Popular Fiction category for her book Welcome to Paradise. Sharing his joy on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “My trophy wife—literally (laughing emoji). But she earns her own accolades. So proud of my Crossword Popular Choice Award winner.”

Twinkle, who attended the award ceremony, shared a video of herself accepting the honour and a snapshot of her holding the trophy. In a light-hearted post, she recounted a comical incident that followed her celebration. “Last night, Welcome to Paradise won the Crossword Book Award 2024 in the Popular Fiction category. Among the goodies in one of the hampers was a chocolate cake. I sliced a piece, left it on the coffee table, and when I came back—Mr. Jeeves [her pet dog] had consumed it,” she wrote.

The midnight mishap led to a rushed visit to the vet to ensure her dog was fine. Twinkle added humorously, “These things only happen to me, which is why I'll never run out of stories. Mr. Jeeves is a little tired but fine, and so am I.” She also thanked her editor, Chiki Sarkar, and included a nod to Freddie Mercury, whose music features prominently in her book.

The post drew congratulatory messages from friends and celebrities. Author Tahira Kashyap commented, “Amazing! Congratulations, my friend! To many more, though Mr. Jeeves clearly knows how to celebrate!” Photographer Dabboo Ratnani wrote, “Congratulations.”

Welcome to Paradise, published in December last year, features five short stories exploring themes like grief, loneliness, deception, and heartbreak.

Twinkle Khanna and Akshay Kumar, who got married in January 2001, are parents to Aarav and Nitara. While Twinkle continues to establish herself in the literary world, Akshay Kumar has a slate of exciting projects, including Shankara, Jolly LLB 3, Housefull 5, Welcome to the Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3.
