
October18, 2024: Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan, and Ananya Panday are all set to star in an upcoming film about C. Sankaran Nair, a prominent barrister who played a key role in exposing the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre during the British Raj.
The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat, with Raghu Palat being the great-grandson of Nair.
Dharma Productions made the announcement on October 18, 2024, via Instagram, confirming that the film is slated for release on March 14, 2025. The post highlighted the film’s theme, calling it “an untold story” and “an unheard truth,” emphasizing its focus on the legendary courtroom battle that Nair fought against the British.
C. Sankaran Nair, a significant figure in India’s freedom movement, was the former President of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council. His relentless pursuit of justice, particularly his efforts to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, played a crucial role in inspiring the country’s freedom struggle.
