
Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan Starrer 'Kesari Chapter 2' Release Date Rescheduled
February 15, 2025: The much-anticipated film based on the life of India’s top barrister, C. Sankaran Nair, has officially been titled Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh. Starring Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and Ananya Panday, the film has now been rescheduled for release on April 18, 2025, instead of its previously planned date of March 14, 2025.
The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, will delve into the brave courtroom battle fought by C. Sankaran Nair against the British Raj to uncover the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, an event that shook the nation. The project is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Raghu Palat is the great-grandson of C. Sankaran Nair.
Kesari Chapter 2 is produced by Dharma Productions, Leo Media Collective, and Cape of Good Films. It explores the historic and courageous efforts of Sankaran Nair, a former president of the Indian National Congress and a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, who played a significant role in igniting the Indian freedom struggle.
Karan Johar, through Dharma Productions, had previously shared his excitement about bringing this untold story to the big screen, emphasizing the importance of Sankaran Nair’s bravery and his fight for truth during British colonial rule.
The film is set to release on April 18, 2025, coinciding with Good Friday, and promises to be an emotional and powerful retelling of a critical chapter in India’s history.
