Akshay Kumar Shares Harrowing Incident Faced By 13-Year-Old Nitara While Playing Online Video Game
Akshay kumar recounts how a stranger on an online video game built trust before abruptly demanding explicit pictures from his 13-year-old. He urges parents and schools to prioritize digital safety as Maharashtra launches ‘Cyber Awareness Month.’
October 3, 2025: Maharashtra’s month-long initiative to combat digital threats, ‘Cyber Awareness Month October 2025,’ was formally inaugurated today at the Director General of Police (DG) office.
The event, attended by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and senior police officials, was dominated by a powerful and personal testimony from Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who revealed a recent cyber harassment attempt targeting his 13-year-old daughter, Nitara.
The actor’s emotional account served as a stark reminder of the digital dangers lurking in children’s online spaces, setting an urgent tone for the awareness campaign.
Akshay Kumar recounted the disturbing incident involving his daughter, which occurred just a few months ago while she was playing an online video game.
“The game allowed her to play with strangers,” Kumar explained to the gathering. “The person on the other side started with polite messages like ‘thank you’, ‘well played’, and ‘fantastic’. It seemed like a nice person.”
The actor highlighted how the predator systematically built trust before making a malicious request. “After some time, he asked if she was male or female. When she replied female, the tone of the conversation changed. The stranger abruptly asked my daughter to send nude pictures.”
Kumar emphasized that his daughter’s immediate reaction was the crucial element in neutralizing the threat.
“My daughter immediately shut down the game and informed my wife. Thankfully, she didn’t hesitate to share what happened, which was the best part,” he said. The actor used the terrifying experience to warn parents about the pattern of cyber-grooming, where predators build a façade of friendliness only to exploit minors, often leading to extortion or even tragic suicides.
In his address, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stressed the need for collective vigilance in the digital era. The month-long initiative aims to tackle the growing threat of cybercrime by focusing on online safety, digital responsibility, and protective measures.
The campaign will target a wide demographic, with specific outreach programs planned for children, parents, and schools across the state. The involvement of a high-profile figure like Akshay Kumar is expected to amplify the message and bring the issue of online child safety into mainstream public discussion.
Cyber Awareness Month will feature workshops, seminars, and digital drives to educate citizens on ways to protect themselves and their families from financial fraud, identity theft, and online exploitation.
