Akshay Kumar Urges British Government and King Charles to Watch Kesari Chapter 2: ‘Realise Their Mistake’

Akshay Kumar, portraying C. Sankaran Nair in Kesari Chapter 2, hopes the British monarchy confronts its colonial past by watching the film based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and the legal battle that followed.

April 12, 2025: Actor Akshay Kumar has made a powerful appeal ahead of the release of his historical courtroom drama Kesari Chapter 2. During a press conference, he urged the British government and King Charles to watch the film — not as a demand for an apology, but to “realise their mistake” over one of colonial India’s darkest episodes: the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

“I’m not here with a begging bowl asking for a ‘sorry’. I just want them to watch this movie and understand the gravity of what happened. The apology will flow naturally after that,” said Akshay.

The actor portrays C. Sankaran Nair, the iconic lawyer who courageously fought a legal battle against General Dyer and the British Raj after the brutal 1919 massacre. Recalling his personal connection, Akshay revealed that his grandfather had witnessed the incident, and stories passed down by his father kept the tragedy alive in his mind.

“History doesn’t tell us what we actually need to know,” Akshay remarked, adding that this project was deeply personal and long overdue in terms of national reckoning.

🔍 About Kesari Chapter 2

The film is a spiritual sequel to 2019’s Kesari, though this chapter shifts focus from the battlefield to the courtroom. The story dramatizes the legal and moral stand taken by Nair, who took on the might of the British empire following the Amritsar massacre. The trailer has already stirred emotion with its haunting visuals and historical intensity.
