Akshay Kumar’s ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Promises a Powerful Courtroom Showdown This April 18
Mumbai, April 11: As the release of ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ draws closer, Akshay Kumar is pulling no punches in giving fans a deeper look into the story of C. Sankaran Nair, the fearless lawyer who stood up to the British Empire after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Akshay shared a powerful black-and-white collage, juxtaposing a rare photo of the real Sankaran Nair with his own portrayal from the film. The accompanying caption read:
“The mind of the South. The might of the North. Together, we fought. Together, we rose. Honoured to bring to life C. Sankaran Nair — who took the British Empire to court after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon; he fought with the law and fire in his soul.”
The emotional post resonated deeply with fans, many praising Akshay’s return to a patriotic role, with comments like “Akki Pajji in a patriotic role is just…” and “Ye movie dil ko chhune wali hai.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Akshay posted another visually striking image — this time in Kathakali attire, underscoring Nair’s deep-rooted connection to tradition and cultural identity.
“This is not a costume. It’s a symbol — of tradition, of resistance, of truth, of my nation. C. Sankaran Nair didn’t fight with a weapon. He fought with the law — and with fire in his soul. This 18th APRIL, we bring you the court trial they never taught in textbooks,” he wrote, tagging #KesariChapter2 and #SankaranVsTheEmpire.
The upcoming film’s trailer, released earlier this month, hints at a gripping courtroom drama and emotional nationalist narrative, with Ananya Panday playing a law student and R. Madhavan appearing as the British official Neville McKinley.
A spiritual successor to the 2019 hit ‘Kesari’, which starred Akshay alongside Parineeti Chopra and focused on the Battle of Saragarhi, ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ shifts the spotlight to another chapter of Indian resistance — this time, through law and justice.
The film is set to release on April 18, promising to unveil a historical court case never taught in textbooks.
