Alan Ritchson Reveals He Was Knocked Out While Filming Fight Scene For Reacher Season 3 Finale

March 28, 2025: Alan Ritchson, star of the hit Amazon Prime Video series Reacher, recently revealed that he was knocked unconscious while filming a fight scene for the finale episode of Season 3. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor shared details about the intense action sequence that led to him being knocked out.

Ritchson recalled that during the scene, he was slammed through a table so hard that he was sent “into the seventh circle of hell.” The impact caused him to lose consciousness, and he woke up a day and a half later. Despite the frightening experience, Ritchson had to reassure his children, who were on set at the time, that he was okay and that “dad died and was going not to be okay” was not the case.

The actor also mentioned that his team had warned him about the potential dangers of the stunt, but he was determined to go through with it. Ritchson wanted to capture the raw intensity of his character, Reacher, and wanted the camera to stay on his face during the fight scene. He explained, “The whole point is you just watch Reacher get rag-dolled for five minutes straight. And I was like, ‘This is fun. I like that this is the idea for everybody right now.'” He pushed for the shot despite his team’s concerns, who suggested using a stuntman for safety.

The sequence involved Ritchson being violently thrown through a table, and he took the risk of performing the stunt himself to make the scene as authentic as possible. His dedication to the character and the show was evident in his commitment to the action-packed scene, even if it resulted in a serious injury.

In an earlier press note, Ritchson’s co-star, bodybuilder and actor Olivier Richters, shared insights into the intense preparation for Season 3. Richters underwent four months of grueling training, which included consuming seven meals a day to fuel his workouts and stunt training. His routine involved a strict diet, intense bodybuilding exercises, and long hours of preparation to execute some of the season’s most epic battle scenes.

Reacher Season 3, based on Lee Child’s novel Persuader, also stars Maria Sten, Sonya Cassidy, Johnny Berchtold, Roberto Montesinos, Brian Tee, and Anthony Michael Hall in significant roles. The season continues to bring intense action and thrilling stunts, with Ritchson’s commitment to realism and physicality playing a key role in its success.
