March 2, 2025: Actress Alexandra Daddario, who garnered an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of Rachel Patton in the hit series The White Lotus, recently responded to critics questioning her acting abilities. Daddario, known for her dynamic roles in film and television, took to defending herself after facing criticism about her performances.
“That I’m a bad actress. I’m not a bad actress,” Daddario asserted in a candid interview. “I’ve just done some projects that don’t showcase me in the way that I should be showcased. Okay? Director and the writing is everything, and sometimes I’m lit poorly, but I’m not a bad actress. I got an Emmy nomination. How do you think I did that?”

Her comment came as a direct response to the feedback she’s received over the years. Following her performance in The White Lotus, Daddario was recognized for her role as Rachel Patton, a newlywed journalist, in the show’s inaugural season. The series, set in Hawaii, was widely praised for its sharp social commentary and outstanding performances.
In addition to defending her craft, Daddario shared that The White Lotus creator, Mike White, had plans to bring her character and her on-screen husband, Shane (played by Jake Lacy), back for a cameo in a future season. “Shane and I would be on a boat, talking about other people, annoying everyone around us,” Daddario revealed. “Mike’s brain is always working. That’s the whole thing with his commentary on the world around him: He’s always observing.”
Despite earlier reports in 2022 suggesting that her agent hadn’t reached out about a return for Season 2, Daddario remained hopeful about her character’s potential comeback. “My agent hasn’t reached out yet,” she said, leaving fans speculating whether Rachel and Shane might make an appearance in the ongoing third season, which is set in Thailand.
While Daddario waits for news about The White Lotus, she is currently starring in Mayfair Witches, where she plays the role of Rowan Fielding, adding another impressive project to her growing resume.
With her Emmy nomination and exciting roles on the horizon, Daddario continues to prove that she’s more than capable of capturing audiences with her talent.
