March 8, 2025: Alia Bhatt Breaks Silence on ‘Jigra’ Box Office Failure: ‘It’s Given Me a New Vigour’
Alia Bhatt reflects on the underwhelming box office performance of ‘Jigra’ and how it has fueled her determination to push ahead in her career.
Alia Bhatt’s last theatrical release, ‘Jigra,’ directed by Vasan Bala, may not have been a box office success, but the actress remains unfazed. In a candid conversation with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Alia opened up about the film’s commercial performance and how it has only strengthened her resolve.

During the interview, Alia shared how she has always been driven by her ambitions:
“I’m a very passionate actor, professional, producer. I have dreams with regard to my work, which I don’t think ever end. I don’t think I’m ever comfortable, and I really like that about my mind. I had a film released last year that didn’t do really well, and that’s given me a new vigour for a new dream to try and do over. It’s something I feel very charged by.”
Produced under Dharma Productions, Viacom18 Studios, and Eternal Sunshine Productions, ‘Jigra’ was expected to make waves but failed to attract audiences. Despite positive reviews for Alia’s performance, the film became her lowest box office opener since 2014’s ‘Highway’.
Adding to the controversy, actress Divya Khossla Kumar accused Alia of manipulating box office numbers, claiming that she purchased tickets for her own movie to inflate collections. However, Alia chose not to respond to the allegations.
Alia is gearing up for her next big project, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love and War,’ starring alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
While ‘Jigra’ didn’t meet expectations, Alia Bhatt’s resilience and determination remain unwavering. Her ability to turn setbacks into motivation only reinforces why she continues to be one of Bollywood’s most sought-after stars.
