October 15, 2024: Despite high hopes and Alia Bhatt’s gripping performance, Jigra continues to underperform at the box office. According to early reports, the film garnered just Rs 1.50 crore on its first Monday, taking its total four-day earnings to Rs 18.10 crore.
The film, which opened to slow collections, has faced an uphill battle in maintaining audience interest. Even with no major box office competition until Diwali 2024, when big releases like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again are expected, Jigra is still struggling to resonate with moviegoers.
Adding to its challenges, Jigra faced stiff competition from Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, starring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, which edged ahead during its opening weekend with Rs 18.80 crore in collections. However, both films experienced significant drops in earnings by their first Monday.

In Jigra, Alia Bhatt plays Satya, an overprotective sister fighting to save her wrongfully accused brother, Ankur (played by Vedang Raina), from a life sentence in prison. The movie follows her intense journey through a corrupt legal and prison system as she races against time to free him. The film’s intriguing premise and strong performances have yet to translate into box office success, leaving hopes for a mid-week recovery as the only silver lining.
