The Indian film industry is abuzz as the first glimpse of Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana, was officially unveiled on Thursday, April 02, 2026.
Dubbed the “Rama Unit,” the teaser has already received a glowing endorsement from Alia Bhatt, who took to social media to share her excitement. Describing the visuals and her husband Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama as “just out of this world,” Bhatt’s virtual interaction has sparked a massive wave of anticipation among fans globally.
Ranbir Kapoor, who initially felt the immense weight of the role, has deeply immersed himself in the character of Maryada Purushottam. Speaking about the project, Kapoor reflected on the responsibility of playing the “conscious keeper of billions,” emphasizing that the film seeks to highlight the human spirit through the lens of righteousness and compassion.
This first installment of the two-part epic is backed by massive production houses, including Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, promising a scale of storytelling never before seen in Indian cinema.
The ensemble cast is equally formidable, featuring Sai Pallavi as Sita and Kannada superstar Yash as Ravana. Yash is also attached to the project as a co-producer, ensuring a Pan-India appeal. Ravi Dubey has been confirmed to play Lakshman, further strengthening the lineup. The first part of this cinematic journey is slated for a massive Diwali 2026 release, with the concluding chapter expected to follow in Diwali 2027.
As the “Rama Unit” teaser trends worldwide, it adds to a blockbuster week for Bollywood. While Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 continues its record-breaking run with over ₹1400 crore at the box office, the Ramayana reveal has shifted the industry’s focus toward the upcoming festive season. With Tiwari at the helm, the film aims to be a definitive retelling of the epic for the modern age, blending traditional values with cutting-edge global VFX.
