Alia Bhatt’s Stunning Sabyasachi Saree Steals the Show at Met Gala 2024

Alia Bhatt’s stunning appearance at the Met Gala 2024, adorned in a mint floral Sabyasachi saree, has garnered universal acclaim, including praise from her family, fans, and the fashion community. Her mother-in-law, Neetu Kapoor, expressed her admiration on Instagram, stating, “You are fabulous.” This marked Alia’s second appearance at the gala, following her 2023 debut in a Prabal Gurung-designed gown that paid tribute to Karl Lagerfeld.

The saree featured a dramatic train that captivated onlookers and epitomized the Met Gala’s theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” Alia’s ensemble blended traditional Indian craftsmanship with a contemporary twist, celebrating the timeless elegance of Indian nobility with its intricate embroidery and delicate beadwork inspired by the 1920s fringe style.

Alia’s mother, Soni Razdan, and sister-in-law, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, also shared their pride and admiration on social media. Soni Razdan posted a video of Alia’s interview at the Met Gala, commenting, “My babygirl making everybody proud,” and later added, “I can’t stop swooning what to do.”

Detailing the creation process, Alia revealed on Instagram the extensive effort involved: “Creating this has been quite an experience… fun and stressful in equal parts. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftspeople, embroiderers, artists, and dyers, investing a total of 1965-man hours to create this ethereal saree.” She expressed gratitude towards her styling team for their exceptional collaboration.

The post quickly filled with supportive comments from industry peers and family. Shaheen Bhatt called her “My fairy,” Bhumi Pednekar exclaimed, “Wowwwwwwwwwwwww,” Saba Pataudi remarked, “Stunning,” and Janhvi Kapoor declared, “Insane insane insane.”

Alia’s Met Gala look not only celebrated the art of fashion but also highlighted the rich cultural heritage of India, making a significant statement on one of fashion’s most celebrated stages.
