Making a bold fashion statement at the closing ceremony, the Bollywood star donned a unique saree from Gucci — a first-ever for the luxury brand. The look was a perfect fusion of traditional Indian elegance and contemporary glamour, featuring a no-pleat drape paired with a plunging neckline blouse that exuded modern femininity.

As one of L’Oréal’s global ambassadors, Alia has been a standout presence at Cannes. Her first look for the festival was a stunning beige Schiaparelli gown, worn during the premiere of The Mastermind on May 23. The off-shoulder ensemble boasted intricate floral embroidery, delicate organza, and ivory ruffles, perfectly complementing her graceful namaste to the paparazzi on the iconic red steps of the Palais des Festivals.

Alia’s red carpet magic continued at a high-profile L’Oréal party where she dazzled in a bejewelled Armani Prive off-shoulder dress. The gown’s glittering top and chainmail texture showcased her ability to effortlessly blend boldness with elegance, making her one of the most talked-about attendees of the festival.

India’s Presence at Cannes 2025

This year, India’s cinematic footprint was marked by Neeraj Ghaywan’s film Homebound, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section. Featuring Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, the film earned a standing ovation lasting over nine minutes — a testament to its impact. Though it did not take home an award, the emotional premiere saw heartfelt moments, including Ghaywan’s embrace with producer Karan Johar.

Additionally, Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia made headlines as a member of the festival’s main jury, joining illustrious cinema icons like Halle Berry, Jeremy Strong, and Hong Sang-soo.

As the festival concludes, the world eagerly awaits the announcement of the Palme d’Or winner during the closing ceremony — a night made even more memorable by Alia Bhatt’s stunning sartorial choices and India’s strong presence on the global cinema stage.
