
Alia, Jaya Bachchan And Other Bollywood Celebrities Pay Last Respects To Ayan Mukerji’s Father, Deb Mukherjee
March 14,2025: The death of veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, has saddened the Bollywood community. On Friday, several celebrities paid their last respects at the Mukerji residence. Among the first to arrive was veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, who was seen consoling Kajol, who recently lost her uncle.
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who share a close bond with Ayan, were also spotted arriving to offer their condolences. Other notable personalities such as Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Lalit Pandit, and Kiran Rao joined in paying their respects to Deb Mukherjee.
Deb Mukherjee was born into the influential Mukherjee-Samarth family, which has been involved with the film industry for four generations. His mother, Satidevi, was the only sister of legendary actors Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar, and Kishore Kumar. He was the brother of successful actor Joy Mukherjee and filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, who was married to Bollywood actress Tanuja. His nieces, Kajol and Rani Mukerji, are prominent figures in the industry.
Deb Mukherjee had a significant career in the film industry, with notable films like Sambandh, Adhikar, Zindagi Zindagi, Haiwan, Mai Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Karate, Baaton Baaton Mein, and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. He was married twice, with his daughter Sunita from his first marriage married to director Ashutosh Gowariker. His son, Ayan, is from his second marriage.
