Amitabh Bachchan Chosen for Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is set to receive the esteemed Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award for his remarkable contributions to the nation, society, and its people, as announced by the Mangeshkar family on Tuesday. This prestigious award has previously been bestowed upon notable figures like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and renowned singer Asha Bhosale.

Established by the Deenanath Mangeshkar Smriti Pratishthan in honor of the late Bharat Ratna awardee and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on February 6, 2022, the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award has recognized numerous individuals for their exceptional achievements in various fields. Alongside Amitabh Bachchan, the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar award will also be presented to music maestro AR Rahman, veteran Marathi actor Ashok Saraf, actress Padmini Kolhapure, singer Roopkumar Rathod, actor Atul Parchure for Marathi theatre, and retired teacher and author Manjiri Phadke for literature. Additionally, actor, producer, and director Randeep Hooda will receive a special award for his significant contributions to cinema.

The Marathi play ‘Galib’ will be honored with the Mohan Wagh Award for best drama, while the Manobal project by the Deepstambh Foundation, providing residential training to individuals with disabilities, orphans, and economically disadvantaged students, will be acknowledged for its exceptional social service. During the press announcement, music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar highlighted that over the past 34 years, 212 distinguished personalities from diverse domains have been recognized. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on April 24 at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Natyagruha in Vile Parle, with esteemed personalities including singer Usha Mangeshkar, Hridaynath’s son Aadinath Mangeshkar, and other dignitaries gracing the event.
