Ammy Virk Shares Details of Rajvir Jawanda’s Funeral Today

The Punjabi music industry bids a final farewell to beloved singer Rajvir Jawanda, who succumbed to injuries 11 days after a road accident. Last rites will take place at 11 am today in the late singer’s native village of Pona, Ludhiana, confirmed by fellow actor-singer Ammy Virk.

October 9, 2025: The Punjabi music industry is in shock following the untimely death of popular singer-actor Rajvir Jawanda at the age of 35. Jawanda, known for his powerful voice and hit songs, passed away on Wednesday morning at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he had been battling for his life for nearly two weeks.

Jawanda was admitted to the hospital on September 27 in an extremely critical condition after a severe road accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district. While travelling to Shimla on his motorcycle, he reportedly met with an accident that caused severe spinal injuries and brain damage. He had also suffered a cardiac arrest before being moved to the Mohali facility.

Ammy shared a note dedicated to Rajvir. The last rites will be held in Pona, a village in Jagraon, Ludhiana district, on Thursday at 11 am. Sharing the note, Ammy wrote, “Waheguru ji (folded hands emoji).” Rajvir died at 10.55 am at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he had been admitted in critical condition with severe spinal injuries and brain damage, as per the statement issued by the hospital.

The funeral and last rites for the late singer will be performed at his native village, Pona in Jagraon, Ludhiana district, Punjab, on Thursday at 11 am.

Rajvir Jawanda, who started his music career with the single Munda Like Me in 2014 and rose to fame with Kali Jawande Di in 2016, had originally aspired to become a police officer before choosing a life in the arts. His popular discography includes tracks like ‘Tu Dis Penda’, ‘Khush Reha Kar’, ‘Afreen’, and ‘Landlord’. He also had a career in Punjabi cinema, appearing in films such as Subedar Joginder Singh and Jind Jaan.

His tragic and untimely demise leaves an irreplaceable void in the Punjabi cultural landscape.
