Amy Adams To Star In ‘Cape Fear’ Alongside Javier Bardem

February 12, 2025: Apple TV+ is gearing up for an intense thriller series, Cape Fear, starring Amy Adams and Javier Bardem, as reported by Variety. The 10-episode series is based on John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners, which inspired the classic 1962 film Cape Fear starring Gregory Peck, and the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese.

Adams will play the lead role of Anna Bowden, a happily married attorney whose life is turned upside down when Max Cady, a notorious killer from her past, is released from prison. Bardem will take on the role of the menacing Cady, promising an electrifying on-screen pairing between the two seasoned actors.

The series will also see Adams and Bardem serving as executive producers, alongside a star-studded team of creators. Nick Antosca will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer, with Alex Hedlund joining him under their Eat the Cat banner. Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese will also executive produce the show through Amblin Television, with Daryl Frank and Justin Falvey overseeing production. Universal Content Productions (UCP) will produce the series.

Amy Adams, renowned for her six Academy Award nominations, is known for her versatile roles in films such as Arrival, American Hustle, and The Fighter, as well as her acclaimed performance in HBO’s Sharp Objects.

Cape Fear will bring the gripping tale of a storm that threatens the Bowdens’ peaceful life, as their past catches up with them in the form of the dangerous Max Cady. Fans of psychological thrillers can look forward to an exciting and suspenseful series when it premieres on Apple TV+.
