Ana de Armas Shines in Thrilling ‘Ballerina’ Trailer from the John Wick Universe

Lionsgate has unveiled the highly anticipated first trailer for ‘Ballerina,’ a gripping new chapter in the ‘John Wick’ universe. The trailer, shared on Lionsgate Movies’ official social media platforms, spotlights Ana de Armas in the role of Eve Macarro, a young woman recruited to train at a secretive and elite assassin academy.

Guided by a fierce instructor, played by Sharon Duncan-Brewster, and mentored by Ian McShane, Eve embarks on an intense journey to become a master assassin. The film is set during the events of ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ (2019), offering fans a deeper look into the shadowy world of the Ruska Roma, the secret society of assassins introduced in the franchise.

The trailer is set to a haunting rendition of Elton John’s classic ‘Tiny Dancer,’ building tension as it leads to a climactic encounter between de Armas’ character and the legendary John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves. The chilling tone, combined with the trailer’s powerful imagery, sets the stage for a high-stakes, action-packed film.

Alongside de Armas and Reeves, the cast boasts an impressive lineup, including Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, the late Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus. According to Deadline, this formidable cast adds depth to the expanding ‘John Wick’ universe.

‘Ballerina’ was initially scheduled for release on June 7, 2024, but has since been postponed to June 6, 2025. The film is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten, based on characters created by Derek Kolstad. The production team, including Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and Chad Stahelski, is working to maintain the action-packed legacy of the ‘John Wick’ series. Stahelski, who directed the original ‘John Wick’ films, collaborated closely with Wiseman to elevate the film’s action sequences, ensuring that ‘Ballerina’ lives up to the high standards of the franchise.

Fans of the ‘John Wick’ series can look forward to ‘Ballerina’ expanding the intricate and dangerous world of assassins, led by Ana de Armas in a powerful and dynamic role.
