Anand Mahindra Says “World Discovered That India Is The New Frontier Of Live Entertainment…” On Coldplay’s Ahmedabad Concert

January 27, 2025: Indian businessman and philanthropist Anand Mahindra shared his admiration for Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad on January 26th.

He posted a captivating video from the event on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where the lights in Narendra Modi Stadium shimmered like stars, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Mahindra’s post read, “The moment when the world discovered that India is the new frontier of live entertainment… Coldplay. Ahmedabad.”

The British band, fresh from an exhilarating performance in Mumbai, delivered another unforgettable show in Ahmedabad. This concert marked Coldplay’s first-ever performance in Gujarat and drew a massive crowd to the iconic stadium. Lead vocalist Chris Martin made a special effort to connect with the audience by speaking in Gujarati, greeting them with: “Tame logo aaje badha sundar laago cho. Hu tamare shahar ma aavyo chu. Kem cho Ahmedabad?” (You all look very beautiful today. I am in your city. How are you, Ahmedabad?). This gesture was met with a roaring response from the fans.

During “A Sky Full of Stars”, the stadium transformed into a galaxy of twinkling lights, with fireworks illuminating the sky. Chris Martin encouraged the audience to put away their phones and focus on the live experience. The crowd joined him in singing an acoustic version of the song, making for a truly magical moment.

After the performance, Coldplay expressed their gratitude on their official X account, calling it their “biggest ever concert” and thanking Ahmedabad for its overwhelming support. The band even posted a humorous picture from the stadium, drawing a cricket ball with the caption “Ahmedabad, 1/25.” Chris Martin joked about the ball’s shape and expressed how much they enjoyed performing at the stadium for the first time.

In celebration of India’s Republic Day, Chris Martin also paid tribute to India by singing iconic patriotic songs like “Vande Mataram” and “Maa Tujhhe Salaam,” which were met with loud applause. He concluded the tribute with “Salute to Mother India.”

A special moment occurred when Martin dedicated a song to Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah, calling him “the best bowler in the whole of cricket” in a light-hearted remark about his destruction of England’s batting line-up.

Coldplay’s India tour, organized by BookMyShow Live, concluded with the performances in Ahmedabad. The final concert was live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, allowing fans across the country to enjoy the event from the comfort of their homes.
