Filmmaker Farah Khan revealed her blockbuster heist comedy has achieved “Gen Z cult film” status, and in a fun on-air exchange, suggested Ananya Panday could join the rumored sequel as Katrina Kaif’s younger sister.
November 6, 2025: Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has sparked major excitement by hinting at the development of a sequel to her 2010 blockbuster, Tees Maar Khan, and potentially casting Ananya Panday alongside original lead Katrina Kaif.
The revelation came during the latest episode of Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s chat show, Two Much, where Farah Khan and Ananya Panday appeared as guests.
The ‘Gen Z Cult Film’
During the candid conversation, Farah Khan asserted that the Akshay Kumar-starrer, despite mixed critical reviews upon release, has become a sleeper hit among new audiences.
Farah Khan: “Tees Maar Khan made ₹65 crores, 15 years ago. It’s a Gen Z cult film. In fact, when fans are asked which movie should have a part two, they always say Tees Maar Khan.”
Twinkle Khanna then followed up, asking about the possibility of a sequel to the heist comedy. Ananya Panday, showing her enthusiasm, instantly quipped, “Can I be in it?”
Farah Khan’s humorous response not only confirmed the idea of a sequel but also gave a playful suggestion for the casting.
Farah Khan: “Yes, you can be in it. You can be Katrina’s younger sister.”
Remembering the Original Blockbuster
The original Tees Maar Khan starred Akshay Kumar as the eponymous conman, with Katrina Kaif playing his wannabe-actress girlfriend. The film was a commercial success, generating over ₹60 crore nett in India and featuring the immensely popular item number, “Sheila Ki Jawani.”
Though the film was a spoof and received criticism at the time, its quirky humor, entertaining twists, and over-the-top action have cemented its reputation as a unique and fun watch among younger viewers—a fact that Farah Khan says justifies the growing demand for a sequel.
While Farah Khan did not confirm that Tees Maar Khan 2 is officially greenlit, the on-air suggestion of a Katrina-Ananya collaboration has already sent fans of the original into a frenzy.
