Andrew Garfield Says He’s Open to Returning as Spider-Man — But Only If It’s....

Andrew Garfield is game for another swing across the Spider-Verse — but only if Marvel is ready to break all the rules.

The Amazing Spider-Man actor, who last suited up as Peter Parker in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, made headlines this weekend at the Middle East Film & Comic Con, where he addressed a question that fans have been asking ever since his triumphant return:
Will he play Spider-Man again?
“I really love playing Spider-Man. I would love to play the character again in some capacity,” Garfield said.
“But I think it would have to be very weird.”
Garfield emphasized that he’s not interested in a conventional follow-up or reboot, but rather something “unique, offbeat, and surprising.”
He pointed to Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films as examples of the kind of creative liberty he finds inspiring.
“Kind of like the creative freedom that they have with the animated Spider-Verse movies. I think they’re so great,” he added.
“You can honour the character in so many different ways through the multiverse.”
With Marvel’s multiverse now fully established — allowing for multiple Spider-Men to exist side-by-side — Garfield’s condition doesn’t sound far-fetched.

Garfield’s emotional return in No Way Home, alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland, proved just how much fans still love his take on Peter Parker. It also reignited calls for an Amazing Spider-Man 3 — or a spin-off film just for his version of the character.
Still, Garfield has remained cryptic.
Earlier this year, in a January GQ interview, he brushed off rumours of a cameo in Spider-Man 4 by saying:
“I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s going to trust anything I say from now on.”
And he’s not wrong. Fans remember all too well how he denied any involvement in No Way Home — right up until the premiere.
There’s no formal word from Marvel Studios or Sony Pictures on another Garfield-led Spider-Man movie. But with the multiverse wide open, and the franchise moving toward more experimental storytelling, the door is very much ajar.
If Marvel wants Andrew back, they’ll need to get weird — and that might be exactly what fans are hoping for.
