Anees Bazmee Downplays Box Office Difference Between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again

November 8, 2024: The Diwali weekend saw a thrilling box office face-off between Anees Bazmee’s horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Rohit Shetty’s cop-action film Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn. While both films garnered impressive collections, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 has trailed slightly behind its competitor. However, director Anees Bazmee remains unfazed, focusing instead on the audience’s positive response to his film.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Bazmee expressed pride in his film’s performance. “The feedback has been amazing,” he shared. “While I have already begun work on my next project, I am grateful for all the love coming our way for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.”

A continuation of the successful horror-comedy franchise that began in 2007 with Akshay Kumar in the lead, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 brings back Vidya Balan as Manjulika and introduces Madhuri Dixit, adding new excitement to the series. Kartik Aaryan reprises his role as Rooh Baba, the quirky ghostbuster from the 2022 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

When asked about the big Diwali clash, Bazmee remains diplomatic, saying, “Both films have done well. The audience has shown love to both, and that’s enough for us.” On day six, as per Sacnilk, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 achieved ₹148.75 crore (nett) in India, with a worldwide gross of ₹227 crore (nett). Meanwhile, Singham Again registered ₹164.25 crore (nett) domestically and a global total of ₹247 crore (nett).

Addressing the slight box office gap between the two films, Bazmee downplayed the numbers, saying, “It’s a minute difference. Koi film 2 ₹zyada hai, aur koi kum. What matters is that both films have succeeded and brought large crowds to the theatres.”

Bazmee also extended his congratulations to the Singham Again team, saying, “A lot of people in that film are old friends of mine.”

Reflecting on the clash, Bazmee shared that he was confident in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 from the start. “No one makes a film thinking it won’t work. I believed in my project. Release dates are decided, but ultimately, a film’s fate lies with the audience,” he concluded.

The ensemble cast of Singham Again includes Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, and Tiger Shroff, adding to its allure and box office appeal.
