January 11, 2025: Amid the devastating wildfires sweeping through Los Angeles, Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has been actively helping those affected.
She was seen shopping for supplies like food and water alongside her 16-year-old son, Knox, to assist fire victims. Jolie shared that she is personally hosting people at her Los Feliz home for safety during the crisis. She also expressed her intent to donate to fire relief efforts in the coming weeks.
Other celebrities have also contributed to relief efforts. Jamie Lee Curtis and her husband Christopher Guest donated USD 1 million, while Kylie Jenner, Mark Zuckerberg, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle supported local relief organizations. Jennifer Garner volunteered with World Central Kitchen to provide meals for those impacted by the fires.
However, some celebrities have faced personal losses due to the fires. Mel Gibson, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, and Anthony Hopkins are among those who lost their homes. Ricki Lake also shared her grief over the destruction of her home, which held sentimental value as the location of her wedding.
The wildfire crisis has claimed at least 11 lives in Southern California, with firefighters facing challenges from the Santa Ana winds. Governor Gavin Newsom has announced plans for an independent investigation into the firefighting efforts, following concerns about water shortages. As the fires continue to rage, the situation remains dire, with major blazes such as the Palisades and Eaton fires ranking among the top five most destructive in California’s history.
