Angelina Jolie Makes Elegant Return to Cannes at Trophée Chopard Gala

The Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie glows in white as she presents rising talent awards, marking her first Cannes appearance in over a decade.

Cannes just got brighter — Angelina Jolie has made her much-anticipated return to the French Riviera.

After stepping back from the red carpet since the 2025 awards season, the Maria star, 49, made a stunning appearance at the Trophée Chopard dinner held on Carlton Beach on Friday night. Wearing a flowing white one-sleeve gown with a soft slit that showcased her ankle-strap heels, Jolie exuded understated elegance.

Her signature minimalistic style was on full display: soft waves worn down, delicate silver drop earrings, and a fresh-faced makeup look highlighted by a rosy pink lip.

Jolie attended the glamorous evening as the “godmother” of the event, where she presented the prestigious Chopard Trophée to this year’s rising stars — French actress Marie Colomb and British actor Finn Bennett. The ceremony was hosted by Cannes Film Festival president Iris Knobloch, general delegate Thierry Frémaux, and Chopard co-president Caroline Scheufele.

This marks Jolie’s first Cannes appearance since 2011, when she walked the red carpet with then-husband Brad Pitt for The Tree of Life. She famously attended while pregnant in 2008.

Jolie’s reappearance at Cannes comes after a strong presence throughout the 2025 awards circuit, thanks to her critically acclaimed performance as opera legend Maria Callas in Netflix’s Maria.

She opened the season at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in a sleek black halter dress, accompanied by daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt. The pair also dazzled at the Golden Globes, where Jolie made her first appearance since 2018. Her final stop on the circuit was the Critics Choice Awards in a nude lace Elie Saab gown.

Beyond film, Jolie has also embraced Broadway, serving as lead producer on The Outsiders, which won Best Musical at the 2024 Tony Awards. Her daughter Vivienne, 16, worked behind the scenes as a volunteer assistant, and the mother-daughter duo appeared together at the Tonys, where Jolie wore a sage green Atelier Versace gown.

With her elegant Cannes return, Jolie proves once again she remains a timeless force on and off the red carpet.
