February 7, 2025: Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie, known for her impressive acting career and humanitarian efforts, recently shared that her children have no particular interest in the world of cinema, despite growing up in a family deeply involved in the industry.
During a panel discussion at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Jolie revealed that while she had always hoped her children would be involved with film and the arts, they have shown little enthusiasm for the celebrity side of things. She explained, “No. I don’t know, that’s not my doing,” adding that her intention was to introduce them to the creative world but they simply aren’t interested.
“They really don’t like any of the celebrity part of it, especially Shiloh hates it,” Jolie continued. “I think in a very healthy way they don’t … It’s not a normal thing. It’s a silly thing really.”

Despite their lack of interest in stardom, Jolie shared that her children still express themselves artistically in different ways. Her eldest son Maddox, 23, and his younger brother Pax, 21, have worked behind the scenes in film production, including assistant directing on Maria and helping with photography. Jolie also mentioned that some of her children engage in dance, painting, and theater—indicating that they are still connected to the arts, albeit in their own unique ways.
As a mother, Jolie emphasized her desire to give her children the freedom to explore and discover their own paths. She said, “And I think for my children … I hope I’m giving them space to figure out who they actually are and something that they want to live for that’s authentic to them so it holds in their life.”
While none of her six children are eager to follow in their mother’s Hollywood footsteps, Jolie’s focus remains on supporting them in finding their own passions, whether that’s in art, theater, or any other field.
