Angelina Jolie’s upcoming film ‘Maria’, a biographical drama about the legendary opera singer Maria Callas, has been given a release schedule.
The film is set to premiere in US theaters on November 27, 2024, before becoming available for streaming on Netflix from December 1, 2024.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, the film recently made a powerful debut at the Venice Film Festival, where it received an eight-minute standing ovation. Jolie, visibly moved by the reception, was seen wiping away tears during the emotional moment.
‘Maria’ follows the celebrated but often troubled life of the American Greek soprano Maria Callas as she spends her final days in Paris, reflecting on her identity, career, and enduring legacy. The project has garnered significant attention, with Netflix securing the film after a competitive bidding war with other major distributors just before the festival.
