Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher Pay Tribute To Legend Gene Hackman

February 28, 2025: The entertainment world is mourning the loss of two-time Academy Award-winning actor Gene Hackman, who passed away at the age of 95. Known for his remarkable roles in iconic films such as The French Connection, Unforgiven, and Bonnie and Clyde, Hackman leaves behind an indelible legacy in world cinema.

Reports indicate that Hackman was found dead at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their pet dog. While the cause of death is still under investigation, fans, as well as industry insiders, are deeply saddened by his passing.

Kher shared a poignant memory of watching Hackman’s performance in I Never Sang for My Father, which deeply moved him. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor expressed his shock over the death of Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman, who passed away at the age of 95.

The ‘Mr. India’ actor took to his X account to share a series of pictures of Hackman along with a note in which he expressed that he is unable to process the fact that “the world no longer” has Hackman in it.

“Cannot believe the world no longer has Gene Hackman in it… His effortless performances in films like ‘The French Connection,’ ‘Unforgiven,’ and ‘The Firm’ are just a few times the world witnessed his genius. A true legend whose legacy will live on. Rest in peace,” read his X post.

Kher took to his X account to share a series of pictures of Hackman and recalled a powerful memory of watching one of Hackman’s films years ago that moved him deeply.

Kher shared that in 1985, while shooting for his film Aakhri Raasta in Chennai, he returned to his hotel one day and stumbled upon the black-and-white film I Never Sang for My Father on TV, which featured a young Gene Hackman. The movie, which tells a poignant father-son story, left Kher in tears. He wrote, “I cried my heart out! Today, I know Gene was old. Everybody has to go. But tears did roll out for the actor the world admired the most. Adieu, sir! I learned a lot from your performances! Om Shanti.”

Hackman, 95, was one of the most celebrated actors in Hollywood, known for his roles in iconic films like The French Connection and Unforgiven. He won two Academy Awards and was a five-time Oscar nominee throughout his illustrious career. Hackman’s impressive array of performances, including his portrayal of Harry Caul in The Conversation and his role in The Poseidon Adventure, made him a beloved figure in the industry.

According to authorities, Hackman was found dead along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog at their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home. While the cause of death remains under investigation, no foul play is suspected.
