Anjana Sukhani Alleges Unfair Treatment by Nikkhil Advani: “This Wouldn’t Happen to a Star Kid”

Anjana Sukhani reveals being caught off guard with a kissing scene on Salaam-E-Ishq sets and shares her struggles as a newcomer in Bollywood.

February 9, 2025: Actress Anjana Sukhani recently opened up about a distressing experience while filming Salaam-E-Ishq. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, she accused director Nikkhil Advani of being “mean and harsh” for unexpectedly asking her to perform a kissing scene with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. The request came without prior notice, leaving her feeling powerless and overwhelmed.

As a newcomer in the industry, Anjana said she felt she had no choice but to comply, even though she wanted to cry at that moment. She emphasized that had she been given a heads-up, it would have helped her prepare mentally. “I wasn’t in a position to question it. I was nervous, alone, and there was no one to discuss it with,” she revealed.

Anjana also highlighted the differential treatment meted out to newcomers compared to star kids. She recalled being informed about the kissing scene just moments before the shoot in a nightclub-like setting. “This wouldn’t happen to a star kid,” she asserted, implying that better-known actors are treated with more consideration and respect.

When asked why she didn’t confront the director about the incident, Anjana admitted she feared being removed from the film. She still harbors bitterness over the situation, stating that the incident reflects the industry’s unfair practices. “Being new doesn’t mean you’re willing to do anything,” she explained, emphasizing the need for clear communication and consent, especially regarding intimate scenes.

Her story sheds light on the challenges faced by aspiring actors in Bollywood, where the lack of support and industry backing often leaves them vulnerable to such situations.
