The Oscar winner opens up about her enduring bond with Nicholson, his generous offer during a crisis, and their deep-rooted connection decades after their split.

Los Angeles, April 11: In a touching reveal, legendary actress Anjelica Huston has opened up about a recent call from her former partner Jack Nicholson, describing the moment as “heartbreakingly sweet.” The Oscar-winning actress told People magazine that Nicholson reached out unexpectedly during the L.A. wildfires, offering her a place to stay when she was forced to evacuate her ranch in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

“The phone just rang out of nowhere, and it was him,” Huston recalled. “It’s always a comfort when he calls… It was heartbreakingly sweet. I’ve gone back over it several times in my head, and I think next time I’d accept the invitation.”

Huston and Nicholson shared an iconic Hollywood romance, dating on and off from 1973 to 1990. Their relationship famously ended after Nicholson fathered a child outside of their union. Huston later married sculptor Robert Graham in 1992, but she and Nicholson have remained amicable over the years.

Despite not seeing each other much these days, Huston emphasized that their long-standing connection still holds significance. “Life gets in the way,” she explained. “Also, for some reason, they’ve been doing endless rerouting and road work near his house, so it takes hours to get to him, and that’s always irritating. I always managed to be late going to see him, which is very irritating for him.”

Their on-screen and off-screen partnership remains immortalized in John Huston’s 1985 film Prizzi’s Honor, where Nicholson starred opposite Huston under the direction of her father. The role earned Huston an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

“The combination of [Jack] and my father made it really significant and important,” she said. “They managed to circumvent all the difficulties, and we triumphed in the end.”

Now 72, Huston continues to act and will next appear in BritBox’s murder mystery Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero, premiering April 16. As for Nicholson, the 86-year-old screen legend has largely stepped away from acting, with his last film appearance being 2010’s How Do You Know.

However, fans were delighted when Nicholson made a surprise appearance at SNL50 in February, introducing a musical act by his Anger Management co-star Adam Sandler, proving that even in retirement, his charisma remains timeless.
