Anthony Mackie Says ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Will Bring Back The Classic Marvel Vibe

April 15, 2025: Actor Anthony Mackie, who now plays the role of Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), recently shared his excitement for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday, hinting that the movie will bring back the “old Marvel feeling” that fans have missed.

In an interview with IGN, Mackie teased that the Russo Brothers, who are returning to direct the highly anticipated project, are set to revive the magic that made the earlier MCU movies a global sensation. According to Mackie, the film’s script and the Russo Brothers’ involvement are key factors that make the movie feel like a blockbuster return to the franchise.

“We’re supposed to go out this week, and we’ll be out there doing it,” Mackie shared. “Everybody’s excited. I feel with the script and having the Russo brothers back, it’s going to be great.”

He added, “I’m really excited for what this project is going to be. It’s going to give the audience that old Marvel feeling that they always had.” The anticipation around Avengers: Doomsday has grown, especially with the return of some iconic Marvel heroes.

All-Star Roster of Heroes and Villains

The film will feature a star-studded lineup of Marvel characters, many of whom have appeared in past MCU films. The confirmed cast includes:

  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier
  • Paul Rudd as Ant-Man
  • Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon

In addition, former MCU frontman Robert Downey Jr. will make his return, but this time, he’s stepping into the role of the villain, Victor Von Doom, rather than his beloved character Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Adding to the excitement, several key actors from the X-Men franchise will join the movie, expanding the MCU’s mutant universe. The confirmed cast from X-Men includes:

  • Patrick Stewart as Professor X
  • Ian McKellen as Magneto
  • Kelsey Grammer as Beast
  • Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler
  • James Marsden as Cyclops
  • Rebecca Romijn as Mystique

Additionally, Channing Tatum will make his debut as Gambit, a role he first teased in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.
