February 10, 2024: Anupam Kher was recently honoured for his philosophy of optimism at the Illuminate Oncology Townhall 2.0 event, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The prestigious recognition was presented to the actor by Nobel Laureate Professor James Allison during the event, which was organized by the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. This event highlighted the hospital’s collective efforts to advance oncology and improve patient care through innovation and collaboration.
The veteran actor, known for his impactful roles in over 500 films, took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the honour. He referred to the recognition as a “Unique Honour” and shared his heartfelt thanks to Professor James Allison, Professor Padmanee Sharma, and Dr. Sewanti Limaye for their part in the event. He also extended his thanks to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital for bestowing this meaningful award upon him.
Anupam shared photos from the event, including moments where he interacted with the Nobel Prize-winning professor and other renowned figures from the medical community. He captioned the images: “MOST UNIQUE HONOUR FOR ME BY A NOBEL LAUREATE: Apart from my acting or contribution to cinema, I have been awarded for many reasons in the past. But last night I was felicitated by #SirHNRelianceFoundationHospital for the most amazing reason by a #NobelPrizeWinner Prof. #JamesAllison and Prof. #PadmaneeSharma. It was for my philosophy of OPTIMISM!”
In another post, Anupam expressed how thrilled he was to be surrounded by “Medical Royalty” and showed his appreciation for the honor, writing: “I am over the moon to be flanked on both sides by the Medical Royalty of the world. Thank you @rfhospital and dearest and dynamic Dr. #SewantiLimaye for this beautiful honour at the #IllumanateOncologyTownhall 2.0 event! Jai Ho!”
Anupam Kher’s recognition at the event comes shortly after another personal milestone—his acting institute, Actor Prepares, celebrated its 20th anniversary. The actor shared that this institution, which has trained a host of renowned actors, is his biggest achievement yet, even more so than his extensive film career.
Established in 2005, Actor Prepares has helped nurture some of Bollywood’s brightest stars, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, and Varun Dhawan, among others. Anupam Kher expressed in a recent interview that the success and impact of his acting school felt like the biggest trophy of his life, surpassing even his work in over 500 films.
In his latest role, Anupam Kher was seen in Emergency, a film directed by Kangana Ranaut that explores the Emergency period imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the 1970s, and the aftermath of that tumultuous time.
