Anurag Kashyap’s Fearless Cop Look In ‘Dacoit’ Unveiled

February 28, 2025: Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, known for his work behind the camera, is stepping in front of it for a new role in the upcoming film Dacoit – Ek Prem Katha, starring Mrunal Thakur and Adivi Sesh. The celebrated director will be seen essaying the role of a tough and witty cop, Inspector Swamy, in the action-packed drama.

On Friday, the makers unveiled Kashyap’s look from the film, where he portrays a fearless police officer who is also a devoted Ayyappa follower. According to the filmmakers, his character is one of strong integrity, with no tolerance for corruption. The character of Inspector Swamy is described as sharp-minded, sarcastic, and witty, adding a layer of depth to the gripping narrative, which promises to be full of action, emotion, and drama.

Speaking about his role, Anurag Kashyap shared his excitement, acknowledging the unique challenge this character presents. “Playing a police officer who is an Ayyappa devotee is both fun and challenging. The conundrums of duty versus dharma, and doing his job with a dry sense of humor, is fantastic. I am truly looking forward to playing this character in two languages, shooting in both Hindi and Telugu. To get the same impact in both languages is the challenging part, and something I am thoroughly enjoying,” Kashyap said in a press release.

Dacoit – Ek Prem Katha, directed by Shaneil Deo in his directorial debut, is an ambitious project that will be shot simultaneously in both Hindi and Telugu. Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and co-produced by Suniel Narang, the film is presented by Annapurna Studios. The story and screenplay have been jointly written by Adivi Sesh and Shaneil Deo. Currently, filming is underway in Hyderabad, with plans for an extensive schedule in Maharashtra to follow.

This film marks another milestone for Anurag Kashyap as he continues to push boundaries, not only as a filmmaker but also as an actor, taking on a challenging and diverse role that is sure to intrigue audiences.
