Instagram influencer and content creator Apoorva Mukhija, aka Rebel Kid, hints at vacating her Mumbai home following the fallout from the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy. Her cryptic message has sparked speculation.
April 17, 2025 | Social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, known online as The Rebel Kid, has vacated her apartment in Mumbai, possibly as a consequence of the ongoing backlash over the controversial YouTube series India’s Got Latent. The move comes just months after she moved in and showcased the flat in a now-deleted YouTube video.
In a cryptic Instagram Story shared this week, Apoorva posted a dimly-lit video of herself switching off the lights of an empty apartment, captioned simply: “End of an era.” Dressed in a white dress, she appeared solemn, standing amid boxes and cleaning supplies, signaling the final stage of her move. It is currently unclear whether she has moved to a new apartment in Mumbai or left the city altogether.
🧨 Controversy Fallout
Apoorva’s departure comes in the wake of the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy, which erupted after co-panelist Ranveer Allahbadia made controversial comments during an episode aired in January 2025. Though the show’s creator Samay Raina eventually removed all episodes, the damage had been done—multiple FIRs were filed, and social media outrage ensued.
Apoorva was among those named in police complaints, and she too faced severe online backlash after a clip from the episode went viral. She responded by wiping her Instagram clean and briefly disappearing from the platform.
In a recent emotional post, she revealed that her manager had advised her not to return home as her address had become public knowledge, raising safety concerns.
“I started reading my DMs, and they were all graphic—people talking about rape, acid attacks…” Apoorva shared.
“When I went to the police, I cried so much. It felt dehumanising because of how the paparazzi treated me.“
👨👩👧 Support from Family, Targeting by Trolls
Apoorva expressed gratitude toward her parents, who supported her through the ordeal. However, trolls reportedly began attacking her mother’s social media account, leaving hateful and disturbing messages.
“I deserve this because I did this. My parents did not deserve this,” she stated. Apoorva has now pledged that earnings from any related video content will go toward an NGO that supports survivors of acid attacks, rape, and domestic violence.
