Archna Puran Singh wraps up filming for Kapil Sharma’s Netflix series with laughter-filled moments

Kapil Sharma’s OTT debut, ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’, ended abruptly after only 2 months from its launch.

They streamed a total of only 6 episodes.

It was Archana Puran Singh who announced the wrap of the shooting of the first season on Instagram.

“Season wrap,” she said in an Instagram story, which shocked and disappointed many.

The show had some of the industry’s stalwart comedians including Kapil Sharma, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Archana Puran Singh and Rajiv Thakur.

‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ premiered on Netflix on March 30 this year, with a blockbuster first episode with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni as guests.

It were cricketers Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in Episode#2.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra graced the show’s third episode to promote their film, Amar Singh Chamkila also premiering on Netflix. They were also joined by the director of their movie, Imtiaz Ali.

The fourth episode had actor brothers Vicky and Sunny Kaushal. Episode-5 was a coup of sorts, with Aamir Khan as the guest. For the uninitiated, Amir’s ex-wife’s film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ also recently premiered on Netflix.

The last episode of the season was with Superstar brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol.

Sadly, with each subsequent episode, the numbers kept dwindling, and ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show ‘slowly started to drop out from the Netflix’s Top 10 List. This is considered to be the primary reason for the abrupt end for season-1.

According to a recent media report Kapil charged close to Rs. 5 Crore per episode.
Sunil Grover, charged Rs 25 lakh for each episode, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda, received Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh, respectively, for each episode, while Rajiv Thakur charged Rs. 6 lakh. The laugh out loud lady, Archana Puran Singh reportedly received Rs. 10 lakh every episode.

While there is no official confirmation on the second season of ‘Great Indian Kapil Show’, comedian Kiku Sharda revealed that the shooting has stopped “temporarily” and the show will return for another season.

“We have done 13 episodes, and the second season will come out soon. We just wrapped up the first season. It was always meant to be like this. We have already planned the next season and it will come out soon. There won’t be a huge gap,” Kiku Sharda said to a news channel.
