Arijit Singh Apologizes to Mahira Khan, Sings 'Zaalima' at Concert
A recent concert by singer Arijit Singh in Dubai has sparked conversations across India and Pakistan, particularly due to a heartfelt moment involving Pakistani actor Mahira Khan.
A video from the event has been circulating online, showing Arijit Singh apologizing to Mahira Khan, who was present in the audience, for not recognizing her initially.
Addressing the audience, the playback singer expressed, “You guys must be surprised, should I reveal? I should reveal in a very nice way. Can we have the camera there? I have been trying to recognize this person, then remembered I have sung for her. Ladies and gentlemen, Mahira Khan sitting right in front of me. Think about it, I was singing her song ‘Zaalima,’ and it’s her song, and she was singing and standing, and I couldn’t recognize her. I am so sorry ma’am, gratitude, and thank you so much.”
Mahira Khan, dressed in an elegant black outfit, acknowledged the gesture with a wave to the audience.
Arijit Singh had previously lent his vocals to the superhit song ‘Zaalima’ in Mahira Khan’s Bollywood debut film ‘Raees,’ alongside superstar Shah Rukh Khan, released in 2017.
Mahira Khan gained prominence through her roles in several Pakistani television series and projects, including ‘Humsafar,’ ‘Bin Roye,’ ‘Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay,’ and ‘Razia.’
On the personal front, Mahira tied the knot for the second time last year with Pakistani businessman Salim Karim. This marks Mahira’s second marriage, following her previous marriage to Ali Askari, with whom she shares a son born in 2009. However, they separated in 2015.
