In a New Year message to fans, the singer thanked listeners for their unwavering love and support, calling his career a “wonderful journey” and confirming his decision to step away from playback singing. Widely regarded as one of the most influential voices of contemporary Bollywood, Singh’s soulful renditions have shaped a generation of romantic soundtracks.

Born on April 25, 1987, in Jiaganj, West Bengal, Arijit Singh was introduced to music at a young age and trained extensively in Indian classical music, tabla, Rabindra Sangeet and pop. He first gained public recognition in 2005 as a finalist on the reality show Fame Gurukul, followed by a win on 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil. Though early success was gradual, Singh’s persistence and behind-the-scenes work as an assistant to composer Pritam helped him find his footing in the industry.
