Amaal Mallik reveals singer has over 100 unreleased tracks despite retirement
March 17, 2026: Arijit Singh left fans shocked after announcing his retirement from playback singing on January 27 through a cryptic Instagram post. However, confusion followed as several of his songs continued to release afterward. The singer later clarified that these were previously recorded tracks, and more such songs will keep releasing through 2026 and possibly 2027.
Now, music composer Amaal Mallik has revealed that Singh still has a massive backlog of unreleased work. In an interview, Mallik stated that Arijit has around 100 songs yet to be released, including tracks recorded for films over the past four years. He also said that some of the singer’s finest work is still awaiting release and encouraged other artists to take inspiration from Singh’s bold decision if they feel creatively restricted.
Despite stepping away from playback singing, Arijit remains active as an independent artist, collaborating with names like Anoushka Shankar. His post-retirement releases include “Tere Sang” under the Salman Khan Films banner, the devotional track “O Shiv Mere” ahead of Maha Shivratri, and the title song of Ek Din, reportedly recorded after persuasion by Aamir Khan.
